Feeling Down or Stressed? Have Some Chocolate
So, things are still a little less-than-perfect in our world right now.
This year has brought more challenges than we’re typically used to, and we’ve had to adjust our lifestyles, attitudes, and perspectives on some things. Ok, many things.
Self-care has emerged as something that’s not only important, but absolutely critical to our well-being.
And self-care includes chocolate. Yes! Chocolate. You can elevate your mood with chocolate.
Eating chocolate produces seratonin. Serotonin is famous for being a chemical that nerve cells produce to communicate in the brain. Serotonin is known as a “natural mood stabilizer” because it helps reduce depression and regulate anxiety (Health Line).
“Chocolate is linked to the neurotransmitter serotonin through a key compound that can be isolated from the chocolate bar itself: Tryptophan. Tryptophan is an amino acid found in small quantities in chocolate and is also the precursor for Serotonin.” (Colby.edu)
When we consume the tryptophan in chocolate, it increases our seratonin levels, and we feel better.
Buh bye stress, anxiety, and depression, and Well Hello There, elevated mood; at least for a little while.
While we don’t encourage eating chocolate all day every day, a little bit every day has been scientifically proven to make you feel better.
So go ahead. Indulge a little. Elevate your mood with chocolate. And then send some to your friends too.
